Assassin's Creed Shadows is postponed again!

Ubisoft has delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows again, this time by another month.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was originally scheduled to be released on February 14, 2025, but will now be released on March 20. This is the game's second delay, after an original release date of November 12, 2024 was pushed back to this year.

"As part of a renewed focus on gameplay quality and immersive experiences from day one, the decision was made to give Assassin's Creed Shadows an additional month of development time," Ubisoft explains.

Community feedback should be better integrated

This additional time will allow the team to better incorporate the player feedback collected over the past three months and create the best conditions for launch by continuing to work closely with the increasingly positive Assassin's Creed community. The game is now scheduled for March 20th."

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot added: "We are all behind our team's efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin's Creed in the series and have decided to give Shadows an extra month of development to better incorporate the player feedback collected over the past three months. This will allow us to fully exploit the game's potential and close the year on a strong note."

This second delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows comes at one of the most difficult times in Ubisoft's history. The company is reportedly in takeover talks with Chinese megacorporation Tencent after a difficult year in 2024 in which it closed studios, canceled games and made mass layoffs. Star Wars Outlaws failed to meet sales expectations and Call of Duty competitor XDefiant was canceled.

Ubisoft shares fell to their lowest levels in a decade in September after Ubisoft made a series of dramatic announcements about the performance of its games. In addition to delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft also announced its return to Steam after a period of being a PC exclusive on the Epic Games Store. Star Wars Outlaws was recently released on Valve's platform. However, the widely popular Assassin's Creed Origins fell victim to review bombing on Steam after a Windows PC update made it unplayable for some.
